In a one-of-a-kind address, King Charles The Third was gifted with the courtesy of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni prior to royalty attending an address at the Italian Parliament, issued in part in Italian, this unique event was the crowning diplomacy for Italy and the UK’s relations.
Medici marked the occasion as King Charles is still on his state visit to Italy, the monarch received a forecourt salute from the Prime Minister and Cabinet at Montecitorio Palace. This ceremony showed the strong historical and cultural bond between the two worlds.
The King received bipartisan applause when they commended his commendable efforts to speak in Italian with the Italian parliament, not for the last time in this address. He referred to the shared values and Italy’s cooperation on issues of global concern and the friendship which exists between the unicorn and Italy.
“Words cannot express the respect I have for the parliament that is the heartbeat of Italy. There has been a breathtaking mix of unity and diversity between our two countries which we have witnessed,” was the kings statement in Italian, even as he graciously continued in English.
The visit comes at a time when the UK and EU member states are trying to establish stronger post-Brexit diplomatic and economic relations. Scholars interpret the King’s involvement through the lens of soft power and azy reinforce collaboration in trade, climate change, and cultural programs.
